A1C: Also called Glycated hemoglobin test; It measures the

average blood sugar values over a 3 month period;It helps determine

how uncontrolled your diabetes is and if you have diabetes in the first place.

 

ACE inhibitors: drugs used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).

 

Advanced glycated end products (AGEs): the binding of glucose (sugar)

 

with proteins; cause of blood vessel and heart tissues, along with

many other diabetic complications

Aerobic Exercise: long periods of exercise the increase your heart rate

and increase oxygen consumption

Amino Acids: building blocks of protein; needed for normal health

metabolism.

 

Anaerobic Exercise: resistance training/exercise; usually with weights

or body weight; helps build muscle strength.

Antibody: protective substance produced by the body’s immune system

in response to the presence of foreign antigen(germs,bacteria,

virus,etc).

 

Antioxidants: substances fond in food and supplements from food to

neutralize free radicals (bad guys) in the body.

Atherosclerosis: blood vessels that get clogged, narrow and hardened

by deposits of plaque (from triglycerides)
