Ketoacidosis: An emergency condition caused by extemely high blood sugar levels combined by a lack of insulin, resulting in a abnormal acid state; If not immediately treated, it could cause a coma: Not associated with ketones.

 

Ketones: A by-product of fat that the body uses for energy.

 

Ketosis: Having ketones in the blood and urine.
